The Pincehely Forestry of Gyulaj Co became a big forestry when the former Pincehely Forestry and Nagydorog Forestry joined together in 2002. The new large forestry manages the woodlands on more than 8.400 hectares (~20.800 acres) in north and north-east part of Tolna county. This forestry land is the most flat area of Gyulaj Co. Some forest lands of ours can be found on the shore of river Danube and on the flood plain of the river,so generally the managed forest land area gives a really diverse picture at this forestry. At the river Danube’s flood plain we have different soft (mixed widow- poplar) and hardwood (mixed oak- ash- elm) tree stand types as well as euramerican hybrid poplar stands. On this flat sandy soil areas the main tree stand types are the pedunculate oak (Quercus robur) stands, fen common alder (Alnus glutinosa) stands and on a bigger area mainly the mixed or pure, unmixed scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and black pine (Pinus nigra) stands as well as grey poplar (Populus x canescens) and black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) stands.
The Pincehely Forestry of Gyulaj Co practices professional wildlife management on 2 different special function hunting grounds on more than 12.600 hectares (~31.200 acres). This hunting grounds provide excellent habitat for fallow deer, red deer, roe deer and the wild boar as well. The roe deer trophy quality is not as good as in East- Hungary but the quantity of the population is large providing many nice memories to the Clients. The fallow deer population is excellent as well as the red deer population. Most of the wild boars are being taken on free range territory but the forestry runs 2 wild boar enclosures specially designed for exciting winter driven hunts.
The annual big game harvest of the Picehely Forestry is: 80 red deers, 180 roe deers and 200 wild boars.
